Vasilis Barkas set for Celtic exit with £5m signing deal to ‘rip’
Vasilis Barkas is expected to leave Celtic this summer.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper is surplus to requirements by Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou.
Barkas arrived to much fanfare from AEK Athens in a £5m deal in the summer of 2020.
But he failed to impress in the least after a series of worrying performances.
The Greece international was sent into the stands under Postecoglou with undisputed number one Joe Hart Celtic.
Barkas only played twice last season with his last appearance in the 3-1 win over St Johnstone on Boxing Day.
According to Greek outlet Sportdog, Celtic are considering whether they should ‘rip up’ their contract, despite it being current until 2024.
It is understood that former club AEK are interested in re-signing the stopper.
Barkas was linked with leaving Parkhead in the January transfer window, but a move never materialized.
Sheffield United were interested but Barkas’ wage demands were deemed prohibitive.
