PA detentions ‘drive division’ among Palestinians – Middle East Monitor
Islamic Jihad yesterday condemned the Palestinian Authority (PA) detention campaign against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, saying it only serves Israel’s interests, Quds press reported.
In an interview with the news site, the leader of the movement in Lebanon, Shakib El-Ayna, condemned the Palestinian Authority’s campaign against the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, accusing the authority’s security services of “leading the mission of the Israeli occupation â.
âThe detention of Palestinians by the Palestinian Authority serves no one more than the Israeli occupation. At the same time, these detentions do not serve national interests.
“These detentions aggravate the division among the Palestinian people, mainly because they target symbolic Palestinian figures,” he said.
He went on to criticize Israel’s “fierce campaign” against its movement’s prisoners inside Israeli jails after six prisoners escaped from Gilboa high-security prison in September. He stressed that the occupation’s actions will not lead the prisoners “to surrender or break their will, but will strengthen their perseverance to gain their freedom.”
