Infrastructure projects worth a total of NIS 110 billion will be launched over the next 10 years, Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman said on Sunday.

These include 26 projects in the fields of transport, energy, water and government buildings, he told reporters at a press briefing. At least NIS 50b. will be public-private partnerships with Israeli companies, he said.

“Immediately after the state budget is passed, we will be releasing a lot of projects,” Liberman said. “Some of these projects will be implemented next year, or in 2023 or after. These are big projects that will bring more continuous growth to the Israeli economy. “

Most of the items on the list are things that were previously announced. However, this was the first time the finance ministry presented them in an orderly fashion, with deadlines for each project, accountant general Yali Rothenberg said. The list also clarifies the government’s priorities for the coming years, he said.

About NIS 20b. is allocated to transport projects currently underway, including the extension of Route 65 and light rail projects in Tel Aviv and Beersheba. A new airport is also in the works, pending a final decision on its location.

Another NIS 50b. is intended for other tram lines, the network of the Tel Aviv large metro project and the construction of expressways for highways 2 and 20.

Another NIS 19b. is intended for three transport projects for which tenders have not yet been launched: a tramway between Nazareth and Haifa, expressways for Route 5 and the construction of the Tel Aviv metro lines.

At least NIS 15b. is intended for large power plants and water desalination plants and at least NIS 11b. for government construction projects, the finance ministry said.
