It is, apparently, Apple’s HomePod mini
Part of the mystery of Apple’s imminence “Hi, speed” event maybe just lost. Well-known leaker Evan Blass has job (Going through The edge) what appear to be official images of several products due to the presentation, most notably the long-rumored HomePod mini. If that’s correct, Apple isn’t straying far from the formula of the original – it looks more like a small vase, but it has the same space gray and white color options, the same texture and the top display (which probably includes the basic volume controls).
The mini wouldn’t sound as robust as the regular HomePod, but it would also cost a lot less and potentially reach customers who would otherwise buy more affordable speakers like the new one. Amazon Echo or that of Google Nest Audio.
And yes there seems to be leaks for new phones. Messages for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max show off the new flattened design with cool colors (including blue, graphite and what appears to be a new version of gold) and the addition of LiDAR alongside three rear cameras. A post covering the standard iPhone 12, meanwhile, points to a scaled-down version of that same look, just with a different color set (including Product RED) and a simpler dual-camera array that doesn’t include LiDAR.
There is oddly no mention of the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini. That doesn’t preclude an intro, but you might have to wait a bit longer to see it beyond the usual concepts and mockups.
Provided Apple presents both the HomePod mini and the iPhone 12 series at its event, you won’t have to wait long to see these products in a more official capacity. It is also unclear what other products (if any) will emerge. If these leaks are correct, the iPhone 12 won’t be the only flagship.
