VERGENNES – Our beloved son, brother and father, “Uncle Izzy” was born on October 18, 1982 in Middlebury and left his earthly home on December 2, 2021, after many years of battling depression, bipolar issues and substances.

Israel is survived by loving maternal mother Candy Kidwell; his father Louis (Randy) Provencher; stepmother, Wendy Provencher; pride and joie de vivre, Louis Nathaniel Provencher; Alexis Provencher (mother of Louis); her supportive sister, Monique (Provencher) Kang, husband of Monique Mark Kang and their three daughters Hunter, Kaela and Sloan; grandparents Harry Provencher and Ray and Swanee Visser, as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Among the many deceased relatives, Israel had a special relationship with her aunt, Roxanne (Provencher) Bannister, and her grandmother Kathrine Wade.

Israel graduated from Vergennes Union High School thanks to another special person in his life, Ms. Lee Shorey.

During his lifetime, Israel found its place in the restaurant industry. He worked at Vermont Livestock Slaughter & Processing LLC, where he later moved to use his cooking skills at numerous restaurants in Virginia, Vermont and New York.

Israel loved to read and converse (debate) with anyone about anything and everything (with a little laugh from us who know him). Israel had a big smile and a deep, robust laugh that you enjoyed. He took great pleasure in gardening and particularly enjoyed growing hot peppers. One thing Israel loved to do was cook delicious meals for her mother when she came to visit her.

Israel took comfort in spending time with Louis hiking, fishing, and nature. Israel valued the simple things in life and desired a happy life. Israel always hoped to live in a yurt on a small piece of land where it could grow a garden with crops, raise animals, and settle in a place of peace and quiet. He couldn’t make this dream come true, but we are not without hope that he may have it now or something better in Heaven. We will miss you forever here on sweet land Izzy.

The family are planning a funeral in June 2022.
