IDF sends additional reinforcements to West Bank
(April 12, 2022 / JNS) The Israel Defense Forces decided on Tuesday to send two reinforcement battalions and two companies made up of infantry and combat engineer soldiers, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The decision follows an assessment of the IDF’s situation following a series of deadly terror attacks in Israel, two of which involved assailants who infiltrated from the Jenin area.
The IDF has intensified its counterterrorism activities in recent days, focusing particularly on Jenin.
Israeli security forces arrested 20 suspected terrorists overnight Tuesday in a series of raids, the Israeli military said earlier on Tuesday.
In a statement, the IDF said the forces had also carried out “extensive counterterrorism activity in Judea and Samaria based on accurate intelligence.”
On March 28, the IDF’s Judea and Samaria division received four additional infantrymen after two deadly ISIS-inspired terror attacks in Israel.
The four battalions – from the search and rescue brigades of Givati, Kfir, Nahal and the home front command – halted training and took up positions in hotspots in the West Bank to prevent attacks mimicked by members affiliated with Islamic State in the region.
