Horowitz: Russia must immediately withdraw from Ukraine
Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, of the leftist Meretz party, told Army Radio that “Israel recognizes Ukraine’s sovereignty. Russia must withdraw immediately.
He is one of the few cabinet members to make such comments publicly. Israel has tried to maintain good relations with Ukraine and Russia. While he condemned the Russian invasion, including at the UN, he did so in a very limited way and most ministers avoided direct criticism of Moscow.
Jerusalem’s main concern is believed to be Russia’s control of the skies over Syria, where Israel is to operate to take on Iranian proxy forces.
Horowitz adds that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is the one who started this brutal war. The international judicial authorities will decide if he is a war criminal.
