[UPSOUND FROM ‘THE KOMINSKY METHOD’] “Hello, ex-wife.” “Hello, ex-husband.” “What’s up?” “I think we could have a wedding …” It’s been over 30 years since Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner shared the big screen – as a bitterly divorcing couple in the movie “The War of the Roses” – but time hasn’t stripped them of the unique chemistry it takes to play convincing exes… this time for Netflix’s third and final season, “The Kominsky Method”. [UPSOUND FROM ‘THE KOMINSKY METHOD’] “How come you never remarried?” “Oh, do you really want to know? Well, Sandy, honey… I’ve never fallen in love with you. “” Really? “” No! [laughs] I was too busy with work. “Why would you do that ?! “” I am sorry. »« You are not sorry! “” No, I’m not sorry! [laughs]“Aging, if at all, only deepened their confidence,” both say. DOUGLAS: “We’ve talked over time and it’s just a comfort factor that lets you overlap and overlap, to be a lot more comfortable – and in this case, when you’re playing an old divorced couple, that helps. ” TURNER: “There is an element of being a friend and confidant that otherwise would be missed.” And speaking of aging, “The Kominsky Method” is a lot about it – getting old… the good, the bad and, finally, the death that follows. [UPSOUND FROM ‘THE KOMINSKY METHOD’] “Do you know how many of my friends have died in the past two years?” “No…” “Me neither, I lost count.” Originally contracted for just two seasons as a sort of buddy comedy between drama teacher Sandy Kominsky, played by Douglas, and his agent Norman, played by Alan Arkin, the third season opens with Norman’s funeral. [UPSOUND FROM ‘THE KOMINSKY METHOD’] “We are here today to mourn the passing of my grandfather’s meaty body.” “Scientology. And, listening to Douglas, it sounded like Arkin, who is 87, hailed his character’s demise. “And I mean, Alan is, I have to admit, a few years older than me and I know how full I was. So I think he’s probably had his fill for both seasons. But I wanted to do another year. I wanted to tie the whole series together, give it a beginning, a middle and an end. “Enter Turner, who partners with Douglas is one of the great ‘heirlooms’ of the film,” says Paul Reiser, costar of ‘Kominsky’. When you look at them, it’s, it’s so heartwarming. It’s like, oh, I know this couple. And then they’re both so good they’re both really good. The third and final season of the “Kominsky Method” begins Friday.
