Costco is testing curbside pickup via Instacart at these locations
It looks like Costco offers curbside pickup after all, but only in a few places.
However, there are certain guidelines that members must follow.
Pickup orders must be a at least $ 100 and members will need to pay a pickup fee of $ 10 to use the service, according to the website.
“Curbside pickup adds an additional expense to our low-cost business model and limited mark-up structure,” the website says of the pickup fee. “Costco employees will prepare orders and deliver the order to members’ vehicles. “
Members can order “all groceries, including fresh and non-food” for same-day pickup, depending on the website. Approximately 2,000 items are available to order for members.
It is not clear whether the company intends to expand curbside collection to other areas if it is successful in Albuquerque.
Costco did not immediately respond to FOX Business’s request for comment.
The company offers curbside pickup the same day after CFO Richard Galanti said the company had not planned on the provision of curbside pickup.
During Costco’s earnings call in September, Galanti said, “We’re not on our heads in the sand, we’re looking at it, we’ve got people here studying it, maybe we’ll surprise you. someday, but at this point we are not ready to do it.
In December, in another earnings call, Galanti doubled the company’s stance on curbside pickup.
“We keep looking at him and scratching our heads a little bit,” Galanti said, by United States today. “But at this point, we currently have no plan to do it.”
In addition to curbside pickup in Albuquerque, Costco also offers same-day delivery via Instacart and two-day delivery nationwide – except Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico, the website said.
