Israelis who wish to travel abroad and must undergo a PCR test for coronavirus before flying will be able to do so in around 30 locations across the country at a cost of NIS 99, AID GENOMICS company announced on Sunday.

Last Thursday, the Ministry of Health announced that from June 1, those who wish to leave or enter the country will have to pay for their PCR test for coronavirus.

For departing passengers, those who are vaccinated and collected are not required by the Department of Health to undergo a test before leaving, but often airlines or travel destination regulations require that a negative test be presented before boarding, so it looks like they will. be left with no choice.

Currently, a convenient option is the Check2Fly test station at Ben Gurion Airport, offering testing for NIS 135 to receive results within four hours and NIS 45 for results within 14 hours. However, nothing has stopped people from getting tested for free at their respective health funds.

Health authorities have since clarified that travelers will have to pay out of pocket from Tuesday.

Until now, however, private PCR tests, with the exception of those offered at the airport, could cost several hundred shekels.

AID GENOMICS offers a more affordable solution: guaranteed results within 24 hours, with an option for rapid results in eight hours or less, a company spokesperson said.

The Rehovot-based group, which describes itself as “a group of specialist medical technology companies[ing] in the diagnosis and therapy of cancer and infectious diseases like COVID-19 ”, operates since November a laboratory in Har Hotzvim in Jerusalem, with a processing capacity of approximately 70,000 tests per day, which are fully recognized by the Ministry of Health.

PCR tests performed by AID GENOMICS will also identify variants of the coronavirus, added a spokesperson for the company.

They will be offered at Bikkur Rofeh clinics – a network of private emergency medical centers – across the country. On Sunday, the tests were already available in 17 major cities, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Beersheba and Rishon Lezion, as well as in a structure in the Shafirim (Hanativ Hamayer) parking lot, next to the airport.

Other locations will be added gradually.

Meanwhile, the health ministry continued to advise Israelis to refrain from non-essential travel and, as of Monday, added two more countries – Russia and Argentina – to the list of submitted countries. to the current travel ban, only the Israelis did authorization from a special government committee. Additionally, a foreign national who has been in countries under travel bans in the past 14 days cannot enter Israel without a special permit, while returning citizens must enter quarantine even if they are vaccinated. or have recovered from COVID-19. .

The list now includes Ukraine, Ethiopia, Brazil, South Africa, India, Mexico, Turkey, Russia and Argentina.
